About East Van Music Lab

Learning music can always be fun

Learning music can be challenging, but it never has to feel like a chore. Lessons at East Van Music Lab are built around creativity, connection, and exploration, keeping the process enjoyable while students develop confidence and real musical skills. The goal is a positive experience with music that students want to continue building on.

Learn music from professional musicians

East Van Music Lab is built around the idea that music is meant to be lived, not just studied.

Lessons draw on real-world experience playing, recording, writing, producing, and working in a professional studio environment, giving students practical skills they can use both in and beyond the lesson room.

Whether you're picking up an instrument for the first time or continuing your musical journey, EVML is a place to learn, create, and grow at your own pace.

Founded by award-winning educator, producer, composer, and multi-instrumentalist Michael Simpsonelli, East Van Music Lab combines professional studio experience with a welcoming environment where students are encouraged to explore, experiment, and enjoy making music.
